Questions and Answers

Q: What if I don't see my question below?
A: Feel free to send me an email: mark@nibgrinder.com

Q: Can you adjust my pen for ink flow?
A: Sure, various levels of flow can be achieved depending on the nib and feed.

Q: If I fill out the form does that “hold” my place in line? Can I fill out the form now and ship my pen weeks later?
A: No, upon receipt I place your package in a bin and arrange it in my queue. We use a “FIFO” process. First packages in are the first packages out. The bins constantly flow through my queue. If I had to look at the form to determine where a bin needed to be placed in my queue and then rearrange my queue to insert that bin I’d be rearranging bins all day and not working on nibs. The one “workaround” to this is using one of the various “express” options. Those have their own queue

Q: I have a fine nib, can you make me a broad italic?
A: No, that would require a re-tip and currently I don't offer those services.

Q: I dropped my pen nib first and now it is all mangled. Can you work magic and straighten it out?
A: Yes. Repair magic varies, but I can likely take care of your bent nib.

Q: My pen needs repair work in addition to nib work. Can you repair my pen?
A: No. I currently only offer nib related services, but email me and I can suggest some people.

Q: What ink do you use when testing pens?
A: I typically use Waterman Serenity Blue

Q: What paper do you use when testing pens?
A: Rhodia No. 16 Pad

Q: For international shipments will I have to pay customs fees?
A: Shipping outside of the US may incur additional costs at the discretion of the destination country’s import/customs department. These fees are calculated differently by each country and are the responsibility of the recipient. It is recommended that you contact your local customs office for additional information.

Q: Can I show you how I hold my pen?
A: If you would like to "show" me how you hold your pen feel free to send any images or links to videos (actual video files are usually too large for email) to my email above or text them to 678-683-9265.

Q: I’m often asked about having a new purchase shipped directly to me to save on shipping costs. Feel free to have packages shipped directly to me from a seller/retailer/custom pen maker.
A: They should be addressed as such:
